DESCRIPTION:Come to the Anthracite Heritage Museum to hear all about Allan Jones\, the Old Forge-born Welsh singer who made it big on the silver\nscreen. Admission is five dollars and the event will feature a lecture by Dulais Rhys\, a noted Welsh music educator and journalist. \nJones was born on October 14\, 1907 in Old Forge\, PA to a Welsh father and an English mother. In 1936\, Allan Jones debuted on the silver screen\nafter winning the lead role of Gaylord Ravenal in the film Show Boat. He went on to fill other lead roles and minor roles in the well-known films A Night at the Opera and A Day at the Races. He continued to work on stage and in movies till his death in 1992.
